About SQC Online

SQC Online was created in 2000 as part of Professor Galit Shmueli's Ph.D. thesis on the theory of runs and scans. SQC Online's mission statement is to create a bridge between industry and academics, and provide free, accurate and accessible knowledge to the quality control community.

From its modest beginning 13 years ago, SQC Online has expanded in capabilities and grown to a website serving thousands of practitioners across multiple industries and continents, be it humble mom-and-pop operations or Fortune 500 companies.

SQC Online was originally hosted by the Israel Institute of Technology in Haifa.

With more than a 4,000,000 sampling plans served, we strive to serve the community in the years to come!

Inspection Levels for Military Standard 105E (MIL-STD-105E)

The inspection level determines the relation between the batch size and sample size.

Levels I, II, and III are general inspection levels:

Level II is designated as normal.
Level I requires about half the amount of inspection as level II, and is used when reduced sampling cost are required and a lower level of discrimination (or power) can be tolerated.
Level III requires about twice the amount of inspection as level II, and is used when more discrimination (or power) is needed.

The four special inspection levels S-1,S-2,S-3,S-4 use very small samples, and should be employed when small sample sizes are necessary, and when large sampling risks can be tolerated.
